Hey,
When I boot from the DVD (I downloaded kubuntu with int. mce) it will come up with the kubuntu start screen but then my screen says: resolution too high - max res 1024x768.
    So, when I press F4 at the start of the setup and manually change the resolution, it then will just come up with a blank screen. what do i do?

i have ati radeon 9250 graphics connecting via vga.

http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/ATI_Radeon-X800-AGP did you follow this?  ATI has very little support with mce throw in a crappy pci card to make sure it's the ati 2.
