Sorry - silly question, but presumably the Bluetooth 'follow me' feature requires all the Media Directors to be already booted, doesn't it?

Otherwise how would the BT dongle on each MD work?

the bluetooth dongle can work on every md (or hybrid | not working on core) from the house.
yes, if you want to control an md, you'll need to boot it.
anyway, it's not a must to boot all md's, you just can't control those that are not up.
