Hi,

Maybe a stupid question, but i don't own a dual layer burner yet so i can't get it to work with dual layer capabilities, but i can mount it to /dev/dvd.

My question is how can i upgrade?Huh

Dave

Hmmm... I don't think there is anyway you can mount a DVD iso and boot from it which is what you'd need to do. Sorry :-(

Hopefully the 3.8g single layer sized iso will be available as a torrent soon.

Well the answer to that question is no... we decided it was more important to get the 0710 Beta out so we did not include vdr on the iso. However you will see that when you run the setup wizard now you choose whether you want to run Myth or VDR and also in Web Admin -> Advanced -> Configuration -> VDR you will see that the page is ready for VDR. We plan to release a temporary add on VDR package that you will be able to download from www.linuxmce.com in next day or so hopefully. This package will then be rolled into a later beta or the release.

totallymaxed.

Just installed beta2 and I can confirm that Windows MCE Remote now work.

However there is no "climate" menu and there is no VDR test scripts under computing.
Is there a way that I can add the vdr test scripts manually or execute them from a command shell?

When do you think the vdr package will be available?
I really want to try vdr since I cannot get myth to be stable. Need to do some more testing with beta2?

I was unable to install blue-ray hd-dvd ripping tools.
The installation complained about not being able to download the packages.

My first impression with mythtv is that my livetv picture quality is a lot better than previous releases.
Seem that the output is deinterlaced correctly now.
There is no video tearing that I can see even when I use UI2 transparent.
I still have one thing I wonder about. Myth ant xorg take up 30+20% cpu on my athlon x2 4400+.
Mythbuntu 7.10 use only 7% percent to display the same livetv channels.
I belive there is some misconfiguration that make my system not using hw mpeg decoding.
How can I verify that my graphics card is used to decode mpeg data?

UI2 feel slow when using the menus.

Overall this beta seem stable so far.

Hmmm... ok well there should be a 'Climate' menu... the vdr scripts actually should not be there as they are part od a test suite for debugging. So the current 'Beta' is shall we say a little more 'beta' than intended!

There will be an add-on script available shortly that will add vdr to the neta 0710 install. I typically see less than 3-4% cpu usage when watching a live TV picture inside VDR at the Core by the way.

Thanks andrew for the quick reply.

I will eagerly await the release of that script and will be installing the new beta when I get back from my holiday and before I have to get stuck back into work.

Keep up the good work,

Regards

Hey you guys.. does the USB-UIRT work with the Beta 2?  The 2.6.22 Kernel broke it for me.

Probably like many others, i'm eager to test the new beta. But never having needed DL dvd's i cant burn the 5.8Gb image. Has anyone modified the image to make it fit on 4.7Gb ? Has anyone done a pxe/NFS boot trick.
Looking forward for any nice solutions.

Hello everyone.
I visited the page every day for the last month or so, desperately waiting for the release of 0710. Now I can't install it, because I too don't have the right dvd burner for it.
What I have tho, is a 12 GB big USB stick, and my server's bios supports booting from usb harddrives.

I don't have a floppy drive, and I don't really understand how I can make the thing bootable.
Does anyone have a clue how I can "burn the iso" to the usb stick ? I googled a lot, and I found some instructions, but I don't really get it.
The missing floppy drive is a big problem in that context...

Maybe someone knows a way - might be interesting for others too.

Hi,

This is what i found to use the iso on an external usb hdd or stick, maybe you can give it a try, and send me you're results.

I invested a few hours of trying, but sadly didnt get it to run ..
I followed all the instructions on the page you gave me (thanks for that tho), but the server doesnt really care about the usbstick when booting. I told him to boot it, but he doesnt ..
I'm trying a few other things now..

So right now sadly no success.

Any news on the 3.9 GB Version ?
