On my Ubuntu machine (7.10) I had all of the ubuntu and kubuntu restricted extras installed as well as the medibuntu sources...  some media files will not play at all in xine.. some would play with funky video/audio problems like xine was on an acid trip...  when played with mplayer they all play fine...  this does not appear to be hardware related as I have tried it on several machines...  intel, via and amd processors and nvidia, ati, and via video cards...  everything points to xine being the problem...  i can also play all of my video files on my mac with quicktime and vlc..  so it's not like the video files are something special...  oh..  they all play fine with vlc for linux too...

I have the same problem too.. if it doesn't work in xine 9/10 it plays with totem, and 7/10 with mplayer and that's on x86_64,x86, and ppc builds.

And yippee for a few more days before 0710.  I've been backing up all my mythtv recordings since Thanksgiving.. hopefully I'll be able to import them.

Anyone know if 0710 will be released in the same forms as 0704?  (as in a Quick Install DVD and a 2-CD Installer)  Or will we see come other kind of installer?

thats just saying they will have pressed media to sell. they will need some time to get that all made. it should still be released earlier than that (im pretty sure).

Hi all,

http://onedollarlinux.com/product_info.php?cPath=21_37&products_id=143&osCsid=1d12808e93793a6c6b4b279a2b3d2dc2

Does this mean really 0710 released on 31th of januari ??

Dave
The 30th of January is just a date they put in since a release date is not set.  Whenever 0710 is released, the preorders will be shipped.

Hi, I'm new to Linux MCE and I'm really excited to try it out.  Since it seems like you guys are nearing the 0710 release I am going to wait before installing Linux MCE.  I really want 0710 since the 7.10 ubuntu release added support for the NIC of a computer I want to netboot.

I am going to install kubuntu 7.10 while I wait for 0710 to come out.  Should I be ok installing Linux MCE on top of that?

If it's anything like the last version you should be able to use the CDs to install over the top of it, as the DVD Installer formatted and partitioned the HDD and configured itself.
