lircd.conf does not get updated
« on: November 15, 2007, 05:44:53 pm »
I have just received my USB-UIRT and I am having some issues. LinuxMce detects it and installs USBIRT038 and a mce remote.
I do not have a MCE remote so I try to add a happauge using lircdhappauge.conf  but no matter what it does not update /etc/lircd.conf
I have manually updated lircd.conf and made sure /etc/lirc/hardware.conf  points to /etc/lircd.conf for its configuartion file. I also updated /etc/lirc/ircd.conf but when i run /etc/initd/lirc start I get a message that lirc is not configured. ???

any thoughts.

Currently the LIRC_DCE has a hard coded link to /etc/lircd.conf not the default location in Kubuntu of /etc/lirc/lircd.conf.  I submitted a patch to Mantis to correct this.  I initially had this problem, I tried several things, but I think the thing I had to do was manually create /etc/lircd.conf and after that the LIRC_DCE component will make the necessary changes.  I will look over my notes when I get home, but there were a couple of forum topic that you may be able to search for.

Thanks,

Rob

the USB UIRT does NOT use lirc! it is its own driver.

Ok so it will it support remotes other than a MCE remote. Specifically a happuague or a streamzap remote. If so how and where do define the remote.

Thanks
