Anyone using AMD's Cool n' Quiet Drivers?
« on: November 12, 2007, 03:20:48 pm »
I was just wondering if anyone was using AMD's Cool n' Quiet drivers? My hybrid is rather loud and before I put in some fan controllers I was wondering if this might be an easier way to go. If anyone is using this driver let me know if there are any limitations I need to be aware of.

Also, I cannot find any online instructions for installing the AMD drivers. If someone is using it on LMCE, could you give me some instructions to follow as well?

Thanks

-Dustin

Drivers? Fairly sure you don't need any such thing in linux. My AMD is slowing down fine i ubuntu without me doing anything about it.

I think it just needs to be enabeled in the BIOS.  I only have the CPU fan hooked up to the mainboard and that slowed it down to below audible level.

these might help

http://groups.google.com.hk/group/comp.os.linux.hardware/browse_thread/thread/b8e6f5e719a06af4/153aa46e7972f9f3

not sure if the instructions to do it would fit for LMCE though. someone else will probably have a more definitive answer later.

And before you start recompiling your kernel, you might want to know that PowerNow (etc.) is already set up under LMCE (probably by Kubuntu) by default.
