I have just installed mythbuntu 7.10 on the hd of one of my media directors. It seems to support some of equipment a lot better, can we expect those  changes in LinuxMce 7.10
Things noticed so far:
Better scanning and channel identification for my HdHomeRun.
More remotes available by select from list.
Supported my streamzap remote simply by selecting it from the list.

P.S.
Is there a release schedule and feature list available anywhere?

Thanks

Tim

Have a look at my erlier posting here: http://forum.linuxmce.org/index.php?topic=2932.msg14459#msg14459

What kind of equipment do you mean ? The tuner-cards are from the kernel, the remotes form LIRC and the channel-stuff from mythtv...
All of those are part of LinuxMCE and they will be brought up-to-date on LinuxMCE as well, as time goes by... But for now, as this is still very early development and understanding-phase for the community, bringing the components up-to-date has a lower priority than understanding the code and get some serious development-community going...

Those Features you mentioned are very nice, but not the top-priority right now, because for LinuxMCE there has to be a community driven sqlCVS-Server on the internet to support new hardware. That is due to the layout of LinuxMCE...

For now I'd recommend using mythbuntu if a running mythtv is all you desire. With linuxMCE the focus is on the Core/Oribiter-Structure and the Home-Automation just as much as the pure TV-watching using mythtv.

So there is no release schedule available right now... The features of LinuxMCE can be found on the wiki, or on the video, that webpaul made.
The upcoming features will form as time goes by, i guess... For now I think a release 0804 could be a realistic goal for everything to work with the most current version of the used software.

Best regards,
Andreas

I thought the intention of naming Linumce 1.1 to Linuxmce 0704 was to sync it with ubuntu family release. Is that the intention and its just behind. I was hoping to rebuild my test 7.04 Box and bring it up to  7.10. Based on the other posts mentioned is it safe to say we wont see another release until 0804.   Embarrassed  If so I will rebuild everything under 7.04

Thanks

I'd say yes, stay on 0704 for the moment... Or keep trac of what will be done as soon as the build-from-scratch-process is solved... My guess is that there will be a lot of movement as a bunch of people have patches ready for commit...
My guess is that hopefully we will move towards a (maybe more) stable release in the beginning of 2008 and then the decision-process will come up, where to go next... Paul's vision was to move to kde/kubuntu so that the orbiter-UI can be moved to kde's window-manager and use kwidgets for the ui-design. How this will happen (or if there are other candidates like compiz/fusion+some_yet_unknown_framework), will be up for discussion then...

So keep you eyes open, report bugs (preferable well ivestigated or even patch-including) and stay tuned... Wink

Andreas

I understand that it will be possible to update lmce-0704 to lmce-0710. There will always be a little lag between a Kubuntu release and a lmce release.

Hi totalmaxed...

Do you know, who's working on the port from kubuntu0704 to 0710 ? Is it only a port, or is that person incorporating patches as well ?

Best regards,
Andreas

From what I've heard from Daniel, Paul is doing the 0710 release from his private repository which will be mirrored to the new public repository after the release.
I wonder if the new release requires a reinstall or if the update will do? Wink

Cheers,
Chriss
