Can't get Windows XP Orbiter to work - need help
« on: October 18, 2007, 08:47:40 am »
Hi, I have installed the Core and can use the on-screen Orbiter in the same machine without any problem.
Now - I tried to use a Windows XP machine as an Orbiter. I installed the orbiter s/w - but no luck. The orbiter opens - and the last line says 'GetConfig' and just waits there. If I click the File -> Show SDL Window - it says "Showing SDL window" and does nothing.
What am I missing here? BTW - I have the core as a static IP address and not a DHCP. Also, when I setup the Win XP orbiter - I have tried with both IP and MAC address - no luck.
Thanks,

Thanks,

You need to have your core be the DHCP server for your LAN. Without this the plug-n-play engine cannot manage the devices on your network... which is why you Windows Orbiter does not get added automatically. Just disable your existing DHCP server and turn on the Core's DHCP in Web Admin. Once this is done your Windows Orbiter will automatically get and ID and start asking you various questions about how ou would like it to be setup.
