I have just sucessfully (partially) installed a fresh system from the DVD.  I am using a PNY Nvidia GeForce FX5200 VAG+VAG+S-video card.  During the install i selected S-Video - NTSC-M (i'm in the usa)  The video is being piped to my regular rca TV via it's s-video port but the video/screen is crapy.  I can barely read the button labels and such.  What if anything can I do to clear up the video?

I think that is pretty normal considering the low resolution of an old fashioned TV, the only solution I can think of is to simply get a better screen and select a higher resolution.

Would a projector work any better using the vga port instead of the svideo port?  I have a Epson PowerLite 77c Projector.  It supports HDTV but my graphics card, GeForce 5200 only has 2 vga ports and 1 svideo port

Hi,

I have a Media Director connected to a TV and another one connected to a projector. The one connected to the the TV is via the svideo connection and the text is not as clear as a dedicated VGA screen but it is certainly readable. Some of the media details can sometimes be a bit hard when you click on a movie or something but I can't fault it too much. It is a Sony 80cm and I am using PAL - but your results should be similar. First chech your cables and connections I guess. I have run two Media Directors on that TV, the first had a FX5200 in it and worked fine - the second (and current) is the 6150 built into the Asus M2NPV-VM motherboard and I think the results are better on this.

The other media director is hooked up to an Acer projector using 720p resolution (using VGA cable). The results are excellent.
