Thinking its something in my bios but not having much luck getting it going .... going to burn clean copy today and try again ... any ideas....... I make it to the splash screen which says kubuntu right after selecting install. then it goes away .... says loading grub again that changes to a flashing underscore icon and then it reboots....... crazy stuff?

I had that, and it was a faulty Mobo, had nothing to do with the software, I tried to install both Linux and windows with the same effect you had.
But of course, it could be something else.

I think you can find something if you google "continous boot" or "reboot loop"
