Hey all
I am preparing to build a LinuxMCE. Looking at the google vids it looks sweet.

I have a Microsoft MCE remote and receiver.
Quick question has anyone had any problems using this device as a transmitter to control AV devices ?
Is anyone currently using this receiver/tranmitter and working fine ?
Or more to the point should I throw this receiver/transmitter to the nearest bin and get a USB UIRT.

any thoughts tips or links would be appreciated thanks Smiley

I can only speak in regards to the USB UIRT transmitter... the MCE transciever (IRTrans based) that was embedded in my Zalman HD160 case, didn't work with LinuxMCE (it would recieve, but there was no way to transmit), so I disconnected it and added a USB UIRT. the install was painless and it detected the dongle completely, and when all was said and done, I added a Xantech double-emitter blaster cable out the back, attached them to my TV and cable box, and I was in business. :-D

you may have the same experience with the MCE dongle, not sure.

thom,

Sorry to drege up an ancient post, but I've started looking at trying to get my MCE transmitter working under 0710b3 and came across this.

Am I to understand through your post that the USB-UIRT needs additional attachments in order to transmit?

no, it transmits on its own... the issue is line of sight.

if you don't attach a Xantech double emitter set to the back, you have to turn the UIRT around to face the TV..which looks....shall we say....retarded.
