how do i change the ip address for a noob
« on: September 07, 2007, 03:16:57 am »
Hi,
I just installed linux mce on a test machine to play with it before creating a production environment but I am having issues connecting the linux box to the rest of my network. The answer to my problem should be simple: change the ip address but I am fairly new to linux and completely new to this distribution. What do I need to do to stop the dhcp server running with linuxmce and how do I change the address of the server? I have noticed two strategy on doing this: the first one is to disable dhcp and pick an address up from the router and the second one is to change the dhcp address range to the address range right after the router's dhcp range. Could anyone tell me wich one is the better way and the instructions on how to do it?
Thanks,
Mike

Open the admin site and on the top menu navigate to Advanced->Network->Network Settings.

To get to the admin site if you are inside Linuxmce on your machine.

Go to "advanced" - "KDE desktop"

When the desktop starts you will see the dialog box for LMCE, click on the admin site option.

To log in use your LMCE username as username and password
