This chap here is trying to do exactly what I want - but this is an archived post.

Any way I can get an email sent over to his address ?

Good luck,

That post is from Sept. 2005 over 2 years ago.  Remember that the archived messages are actually from the old PlutoHome Forums.  You can always check at www.plutohome.com and see.  If you could ask a more specific question we can probably help you out.

http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Manual
http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Guides
http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Here_is_a_detailed_example_of_how_to_add_Clipsal_Interface_using_Generic_Serial_Device.

Are wiki pages that deal with most of the questions in the previous forum post.

Hope this helps,
Rob

I thought that was pretty specfic :-)

to be honest i want to know if he got it working - i know linuxmce can do it - i just have run out of talent.

what i need is to fire off the characters 0-9 and # down the rs232 port - as soon as the character is pressed - the default security screen appears to only send a complete login string once all the numbers are entered.
