I have copied some divx and xvid material to home/public/data/videos why doesent they show up in videos in linux mce?
I also tried to copy them to home/user_1/data/videos but they don`t show up ? WhY? And which folder is the one i should use?

The folder is correct.  Try giving them all an .avi extension.  Does that work?

I have the same issue but with everything, also mp3.
I also have a windows share but it doesnt find enything either

I know MythTV threw an error regarding a problem with a .test sub directory in the directory you mention not being writable...

I fixed the problem by doing chown -R mythtv.mythtv on the specific directory.  If the permissions aren't set properly myth may just not be writing stuff to the drive.
