Hi. I want to test the new LMCE 0704 and therefore I wanted to Download the Quick install DVD. I looked at the Mirrors-Page http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Mirrors and on most Mirrors there are only the 2 Install CDs wich require a clean Kubuntu-install. So I tried the torrent first. I started the day before yesterday and it still says "6 days left" and 0 kb/s download speed. Sometimes I get about 3 kb/s, but still it would take years to download 3,7GB at 3kb/s. So I tried the pando-service. I let my PC on over night and in avout 30 hours I got 76% of the file, but yesterday I shut my PC off and today in the mourning I can't connect to the file any more. It always says "waiting fo senders" and after a while I get an Error. Do I have to download the whole file again? And do I have to download the whole file in one piece? I only found one signle Mirror that hosts the LMCE 0704 Quick install DVD in one pice: http://mirror.chibiko.net/ But If I want to Download the File ( http://ftp://ftp.chibiko.net/LinuxMCE_0704_Quick_Install_DVD.iso) I have to enter a password for the ftp-server. What's the password? Can any1 tell me? And what are these md5-numbers in front of the Files? How can I get the Quick install DVD fast and easy? 3.7 GBs isn't a Problem. I got DSL, but I don't want to download it with only 3 kb/s which takes years to finish! Or do I have to buy the DVD for $5? Can I order it although I live in Germany? I hope any1 can help me. How did you get the installDVD to install you LMCE0704?

Cool. If you host this Server, could you tell me the password and username for the ftp-Server? Or could you add a new puplic User that only has read-acces to this file so Users can download it? Would be really great!

This could be why,
Reply from DreamHost (Aug 17th, 2007 - 11:16:04 / #13167650) Subject: Message from support. Hello,
I'm very sorry but I had to disable ftp27261's anonymous ftp service. Hundreds of connections per second were coming in and this was causing extremely high load on the server. I apologize, but if you want to continue offering that file as anonymous ftp, you will need to either get our VPS (dreamhostps.com) or purchase a dedicated hosting package (dreamhost.com/dedicated).
Thanks! Terri

Year, I see. Of course hundreds of people want to get that file. Well. I managed to get the pando-download working again and now I'm loading with about 100 kb/s and hopefully the software will be downloaded untill this evening. If you enable anonymous ftp service again, please let me know here!

For anyone watching this thread, Ive thrown the file up as parts on the mirror.chibiko.net site. so you just need to copy them together in binary format and it *should* work... (just testing a cat of it now.. windows instructions will be on the site too)

Why not just use bittorrent to download it? It was a very fast download that way... assuming you know how to open the bittorrent ports.

I've just downloaded all four parts of the ISO file but when I join them together I don't get a correct image. The md5sum of it do not match the one on the site...
Is one of my downloaded files corrupt?

I can confirm 'mirror.chibiko.net' works great, thanks atreidae. Although, when I tried a fresh clean install it failed with the following message: Gzip: Stdin: Compressed Data -- Format violated tar: Child died with signal 13 tar: Error exit delayed from previous errorsthen it just freezes any help would be appreciated. Is this the same problem you are having Matsjo? Regards, Mbgm8

matsjo, mbgm8ndb:
I'm getting the same problem as both of you. My MD5's match yours matsjo, even when I download from my shell account with Dreamhost.
Here's the MD5 I get for the final iso, when I cat them together, and when I use dd: b7d36253bcd026acfd4c4275dc24be32 LinuxMCE_0704_Quick_Install_DVD.iso
One of the parts has to be corrupt.
dd if=LinuxMCE_0704_Quick_Install_DVD.iso.part1 of=lmce.iso dd if=LinuxMCE_0704_Quick_Install_DVD.iso.part2 of=lmce.iso conv=notrunc oflag=append dd if=LinuxMCE_0704_Quick_Install_DVD.iso.part3 of=lmce.iso conv=notrunc oflag=append dd if=LinuxMCE_0704_Quick_Install_DVD.iso.part4 of=lmce.iso conv=notrunc oflag=append

My problem is exactly the same as yours. The same install errors and the same md5sum of the compleate iso.
I've tried the torrent track but given up... I hope there will be another way...

Ok, I'm now assuming its a problem with the ISO files from 'mirror.chibiko.net site' being corrupt in some way. Has any one downloaded this ISO recently and installed it successfully??
I am trying a different site to download and the torrent, I will let you all know if I have any success!!
Regards,
Mbgm8

sorry guys, the iso is corrupt and I didnt know ill fix this up over the weekend. can anyone advise a way of splitting the file up via a shell without root access? also i apologise for the delay, dreamhost actualy shut my account down because of a file i had hosted there... (from ages ago.. forgot to delete it) whilst we are here has anyone got the quick install dvd working as just an MD? or do i need the kubuntu, and 2 cds for that (yes i know i can network boot but I imagine a hdd install would be faster and yes i know im thread hijacking, but its my mirror )
