I have all of my mp3 files on a usb flash drive, and I wold like to transfer them to my cores hardrive under the public folder. I am not sure how to accomplish this because I do not have access to the correct folder when I go to the KDE desktop. The flash drive is recognized as a hardrive.
There is probably something simple that I am missing.

Thanks  Smiley

I think that I will restate my question above in a way that isn't so strange.

I am trying to put some mp3 files on my LinuxMCE core. The songs are on a usb flash drive that is recognized as a hardrive. How do I move the mp3 files to to my hardrive?

You have a number of options. You could plug the flash drive into a PC on your home network an the mount the share from your Core and copy the files over to your Core's /home/public/data/audio directory. Alternatively you could plug the flash drive directly into your Core and then go to the KDE desktop of your Core and copy them over from there. LMCE expects audio content to be stored in artist/album directory structure.

What is an "artist/album directory structure"?
I have tired copying  the files into the correct folder, but it pops up a window saying that I do not have permission to edit this folder.

I hope this would help:
1.open KDE Desktop
2.start System -> Konsole (Termonal Program)
3.assuming your memory stick name is „Bluemedia“ so enter
sudo cp -r /media/Bluemedia/Shrek.mpg /home/public/data/videos
