Burn ripped DVD or recorded TV show
« on: August 11, 2007, 03:34:58 pm »
Hi,

Possible I missed something but I cannot find a way to burn ripped DVD from HDD to DVD back. It it possible with current LinuxMCE implementation? Also in what format LinuxMCE rips DVD? Is it possible to burn it using K3b?

Thanks in advance.

There is no 'in-built- way to burn a recorded DVD back to DVD again. However the ripped DVD's the lmce makes are iso's but they have the extension .dvd

So in principle it should be possible to burn them to DVD with K3b...

Andrew, thanks for your replay. It's good that at least K3b can be used to burn DVD. But it might be useful to have that functionality in LinuxMCE. Moreover MythTV and/or VDR have plug-ins for burning DVD.

I agree about integrating the feature into lmce. Yes there are a few plugins for vdr to copy TV content to DVD's. But they all require a fairly complex process to convert vdr's internal video file formats to those suitable for DVD's. So even there as far as I know you need some external software I think.

Possible. But why do not install those software as well?

Installing them is not the problem... making the process seamless and integrated is though ;-)

apt-cache search delivers

mytharchive - create and burn DVD's from MythTV - binary file
mytharchive-data - create and burn DVD's from MythTV - data files

I have no real experience with either one but i guess you could search google for it!

with kind regards
