Hi again, I have been working with Kubuntu in order to prepare the computer for Linuxmce. I downloaded the installer as advised and installed it.

There was an icon on my desktop which I am supposed to click on and choose what type of install. I get an error when trying to open the icon. "Kde init could not launch gksu - could not find gksu executable".

Has anyone else encountered such a problem?

hmm, it seems you don't have gksu installed: try to run
apt-get install gksu
from Konsole or install it using Adept package manager
