Hi

I've installed the RC1 successfully. I am not going to have my media on the LinuxMCE.(all media is on a server). How can I mount/specify where all my media is in LinuxMCE? (all media is on a Windows 2003 server)

I've got it mount with the mount -t cifs command Smiley. But: How long does it take for the LCE to find the movies or better: Can I trigger a scan so it finds all the media at once?

If you have set up your LMCE machine (core or hybrid) to be the main DHCP server on your network and have the windows machine obtain it's network settings automaticly then it should get detected by LMCE which will ask you what to do with each share.  Depending on the choices you make you might have to move the actual files around a bit.

This is my understanding of how it's supposed to work, I could be wrong.

Take a look at this howto:
http://wiki.linuxmce.com/index.php/Howto:_Using_Network_Shares

Zaerc is correct that if your Windows box is on the internal network then LMCE will automatically detect it.  If you server isn't on the internal network then you can manually add it using the Howto above.

Hi,

Sorry for hi-jacking this thread with my own question, but it is related.

I have just one media center in my network, however before installing LMCE I partitioned my large disc so that the LMCE could be changed in the future without wiping my media.

I want LMCE to automatically save media to the media partition not the small LMCE installation partition (default).

How do I specify the save directory??

Cheers

I'm just guessing here, but I suspect you could just remove the corresponding device (like "Internal HDD/CORE (...)") from the core, that way it should never be used for storing media.
