Hi,

I'd kindly ask for a few sentences description how to use speech announcements (or pointer to some more info)...

I'm also curious what voices are used for Festival ?   I found those default voices quite bad, but there are much better alternatives ....

http://hts.ics.nitech.ac.jp/README_hts-voice_for_festival.html

and those Festival multisyn voices.

There is also new release 1.95 Beta, that has unrestricted license and includes all voices.... Maybe this is the right choice......

Regards,

Rob.

To make an announcement, add a Text to Speech anywhere on the system (it's under category DCE Software Wrappers).  Then send it the command:  "Send Audio To Device" passing in the text and the device(s) you want to hear the text out of, such as Xine players, SqueezeBoxes, etc.  also, this will be used by Security Plugin to make security announcements.
