We have just added a new MediaDirector to our test network. As with all our other MediaDirectors we have set this one up for remote boot from the Core. The remote boot works fine and we see the normal onscreen Orbiter menus. However if we attempt to play 'Video' or 'Movies' via the respective Orbiter on-screen buttons no video plays. All our other Media Directors play the same files successfully.

The new MediaDirector uses a different motherboard (Gigabyte 2004 RZ Mico ATX motherboard with a Sempron 2500 processor and 512mb RAM) to all our other MediaDirectors - so this may be a factor. Also we are using the on-board video on this motherboard.

Any ideas as to what the problem may be?

In pluto admin, can you go 'advanced/devices' and find the 'xine player' device under that media director.  Click 'follow log', and then try to play the video.  Post a reply including xine's logs--that should explain why xine isn't able to play.
