Hi guys,

I just finished a Fresh install of Ubuntu 6.10, then ran all the updates, rebooted (no issues saw ubuntu login screen, logged in fine),  installed LinuxMCE (pc will be used mainly for MCE), was prompted for a reboot and did so accordingly..

On rebooting it did the check to make sure everythign was installed correctly, then a new screen loads in command prompt saying:

****************************
Starting up ....
[17179572.768000] PCI: Cannot allocate resource region 8 of bridge 0000:00:1e.
usplash: Setting mode 1024x768 failed
usplash: Using mode 800x600

Unbuntu 6.10 dcerouter ttyl1

dcerouter login: <entered my login name>
Password: <enterred my passowrd>

<get text script says last login, data, time, ubuntu has no warranty etc etc>

banwaide@dcerouter:~$

**********************

Now being new to linux i do not know the commands to launch the OS, is anyone able to help me out here?

Also i am now unable to boot from disk anymore (i've checked BIOS settings etc... but it just loads of the hdd)... please help cheers
