Thanx for that Phenigma,

If I correct the asound.conf, it works but when I reboot my changes are not stored.
Then if I do tests with aplay the audio plays, but nothing plays via orbiter. I copied the doorbell.mpg from the samples folder to the videos folder. But when choosing that only video plays with no sound :-(

Check with Dianemo, as their way of configuring sound hardware is different from the way LinuxMCE is doing it.

Karel,

Andrew isn't Dianemo. Call Dianemo and check with them. I am sure they will help you find a fix.

I am bumping this thread because I am having the same issue, though I have found a work around. Consider the following:

1) When I run AVWizard and delect HDMI as the audio output, I get no sound in either Xine or MythTV, independent of the codecs in the video or audio file. The playback in AVWizard works however for both Dolby and DTS.Selecting stereo, everything works as expected with sound coming from the analog audio output.

2) Changing the audio output in Myth Frontend to one of the digital outputs, MythTV works fine.

3) Editing /etc/pluto/xine.conf, commenting the analog output entries at the end of the file, and replacing the with the digital ones generated previously, digital audio works fine in Xine.

I examined the other lines between the analog-generated file and the digital-generated one and it was unclear what was different. I am guessing that this file is generated from /usr/pluto/binAVWizard-XineDefaultConfig.sh. This is a complicated script.

My working xine.conf is below. See the added lines at the bottom:

As we've mentioned there is really no one maintaining mythtv.  Patches are welcome.  Otherwise it sounds like a mismatch in settings for xine.  You have not provided any information about your video card hardware or card id.  I'm aware of the xine config, but it is extremely variable depending on hardware.

Sorry about that. I am using onboard Intel graphics. The audio chip is a Realtek ALC887. Motherboard is an Asus P8H67-M LE.

Thanks again for the very quick reply.
