LMCE google chrome and netflix - SOLVED!
« on: April 27, 2015, 05:32:51 pm »
Hi to all,
Netflix is now supported in Linux by using Google Chrome.
I try it out but it is extremely slow because of the video acceleration on the loaded nvidia drivers of my zbox media director apparently are not supported.  I havent give too much thought on upgrading the video drivers, but I was curious if someone else have try this.
Because if this works properly, it would be as easy as adding a link in computing to launch netflix, without the issue of wine, etc, etc.
Hope to hear many opinions

Hi tompin2,

I'm aware of the google chrome netflix support.  Can you be a little more specific about the lmce version you are running and the drivers you are referring to?  If we have a bit more specific information it would be easier to assist ;)

Hi Phenigma!

Sorry for the delay!.  I just needed to do some homework, I guess I gave up easy on this one.  Netflix is running perfectly under chrome.  I just need to know now, how to add It under computing!

I followed this link:  http://www.webupd8.org/2014/01/enable-hardware-acceleration-in-chrome.html

Basically is just to enable the "Override software rendering list" restart chrome and voila!
You need to do the trick of the google chrome to run as root, all my test where done under kde desktop.  I don't know how to add it to LMCE UI, maybe someone can help.

Enjoy Netflix, as easy as that!..

Cheers,
T

There's a wiki page about adding items to the computing list.

And it is called.... http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Adding_new_computing_apps

:)
Hello to all, for future references, this was my output, It may help others.

WM_CLASS(STRING) = "Google-chrome-stable ()", "Google-chrome-stable"

So the class_instance.class_Name for LMCE will be:

Google-chrome-stable.Google-chrome-stable. (this is what will be needed on webadmin)

Cheers,
