Unbuntu 7.04 is due out next month. How well will LMCE support it or work on it? Has anyone tested the new beta of Ubuntu 7.04?

I'm using the beta right now, it's all running really well except that LinuxMCE won't install.
It'd be good to know when LMCE will run on it, i really want to try it out.

I'm looking at using Linux MCE on Ubuntu 7.04 (once it's released) and would also be interested if anyone has had success running LMCE on it before I go and start trying, are the developers testing 7.04 with LMCE at the moment?

At the moment i have no success running on 7.04, you run the installer script and it does nothing except ask for your password.
I assume the developer will be working on getting it running on 7.04 right now but i'm not sure, i'm very willing to help test it when there's a release though.

I heard an interview with Shuttleworth on The Linux Action show podcast yesterday and he  said that 7.04 will be released on the 19 th April and he will also then announce the next versions release name.

Yeah, 7.04 is out on the 19th, it has a roadmap, but we're talking about when LinuxMCE will run on 7.04, currently it won't install.

There is a post somewhere on here where someone said they were able to get mce running on 7.04...
they had to link in an older lib, then apt-get uninstall a few things, then apt-get install dcerouter and a few other things, then the install went ok,..... can't remember exactly, search for it...

I didn't have any success, and being that it was so close to the official 7.04 release, I didn't bother to try further..

I'd like to get a few things worked out first, before I attempt that... I can't get the CM11A to talk to my switches with the suggested config, don't want to make things more complicated..... yet....

Good luck,

Dan

Hi guys!

Have anyone got the LMCE up and running on the 7.04 version yet?

I have just installed 7.04 on my ps3, and would love to try LMCE on it :-)

I think this is what you're looking for... http://forum.linuxmce.com/index.php?topic=1455.0

I've not gotten a successful install on this box regardless of 6.10 or 7.04 but clearly others have.
