Hello dear community,

Since this is my first post, I apologise already for my very bad english Wink.
I've downloaded yesterday the last snapshot of MCE and tried to install it on my PC.
I always get the errors "error on device sr0 ......" I think you know the issue. I've looked through the Forum but didn't find anything that could help me or that worked.
Could someone help me please.

Thanks for your help guys

Seems to be an issue of not being able to read the DVD (either a bad burner, bad DVD or bad reader). Did you verify the disc after burning? If you choose to burn another disc make sure to choose the slowest speed as you'll be less likely to encounter any burning error.

Thanks for the fast answer!
So I've tried everything, reburn at 1x speed, changed the cd drice, nothing works.  Cry
One question, my checksum is not the same as mentioned on the webpage, could this be a reason?
I've always got the problem that my Download of the snapshot needs to retry often to download the file, used getright.
Where can I download the snapshot, torrent?

Thanks for your help

Ok I've downloaded them again and checksum is ok.

Next step hehe, installation always stops on busybox initramfs, going no further
I've already tried all_generic_ide floppy=off irqpoll, nothing works.

Thanks

did you try one of the snapshots that are considered working? (see wiki for details, just search for snapshot)

I have had the same issue where I was getting "i/o error, device sr0" and then give some random block numbers.

I have burned and re-burned dvd's, tried installing from a USB flash drive, downloading a different version and all gave me the same results.

I finally on a whim one time hit F6 at the install menu for more options.  I think I hit it twice and a menu popped up.  I selected the option for 'noacpi', hit enter, escape, enter and the install worked.

Hope this resolution helps someone else resolve their installation problems.

The hardware I am using is a mini tower HP D330.

I tried 10.04 and it doesn't get past the bootloader, just says it can't find the kernel.  Finally got the Kubuntu to install, now just trying to figure out how to get the rest to work.  Different problem, so I'll post it in a different thread. Smiley
