Hello ladies and gents,
Clearly, I am new to the LinuxMCE scene.  I need some help choosing hardware.

I am planning on buying a number of 720p resolution Axis brand security cameras.  I'd like to be able to view, control and record the streams from these cameras.  I'd like to access them through the web also when I am not at home.

Eventually, I'd like to do some Z-Wave integration as well.  I have no intention of using this system as a tradition media center PC for entertainment.

Knowing these requirements, what should the hardware specs for a computer look like to achieve my goals?

Thanks for the help.

Jimmy

LinuxMCE probably isn't the best choice for you in this instance,  you should look at zoneminder. It's an open source security dvr.
