There is a lot of roller shade hardware out there. Control will be dependent on the hardware. It can be as simple as a power line switch to vendor specific RF. Take a look at the automation section in the lmce wiki. That may help you to better understand what is out there for automation solutions. But don't think you are limited to what is there. One of the great aspects of LinuxMCE is its flexibility.

Start with a search on roller shades.
