Dianemo S - configuring cisco7970
« on: June 14, 2012, 01:30:27 pm »
Hi Andrew, I am trying to configure two cisco7970 phones with no luck. The wiki instructions deal mostly with configuration under LMCE with plug and play. Are there additional manual configurations required, or are there other  changes under DIANEMO S preventing these from working. Cheers

Hi Garath,

As far as i know we have several customers successfully using these on their installations - but we don't ever install the 7970 ourselves. Let me see if I can get some details on what the process for configuring them is. I'll post something here asap,

All the best

Hi,

I have 3 Cisco 7970 phones on Dianemo 11.10 via SCCP and they don't work properly. Audio is missing, sometimes one-way, sometimes no audio...

The problem is that SCCP is not yet properly supported on that version of asterisk.

HTH,

Bulek.
Thanks in advance,

regards,

Bulek.

What Asterisk version is Dianemo using? LinuxMCE is using 1.8 and afaik foxy is using that successfully with his Cisco phones.

We're using the release v1.8 which is the standard version for 11.10 & 12.04LTS. The sccp package is not standard and is very buggy. To use sip you need updated firmware in the 7970.

Andrew,

what SCCP channel driver are you using? Did you try the one in our repo?

As far as I know we're using the same sccp driver as LinuxMCE. We now have a 7970 here  (its not a handset we have ever supported commercially...but by popular demand we're working into it now) and we are testing it and should have an update shortly. Apart from plug-n-play the 7970 can be successfully added manually to a Dianemo S installation and it is fully functional as both a phone and in terms of its Orbiter. We are looking into why it does not plug-n-play and we will post an update as soon as we understand that issue more completely

Andrew,
At the moment, could we use c7970s as phone and orbiter on Dianemo S? We plans to install a few of them.

Thanks
Hernan

Well yes you could. The phone side will certainly work fine however the Orbiter although working is not a great experience as we have not designed either our RedLine or Dianemo UI skins to work on the 7970's very constrained display. You could look at the Grandstream GXV3175 as this has a much larger and much better display and can be configured to use Web Orbiters very effectively.

Hi Andrew,
I just add noload => chan_skinny.so to the /etc/asterisk/modules.conf and chan_sccp.so begins to work.

Hi Andrew,
Is there any way to configure 7960 orbiter with the LMCE skin? the problem is that Dianemo skin is black and the phone screen is not good to provide details.
We would like to use cisco phones and not throw them away.

Thanks
Hernan

If the urge to throw away 7970s becomes too much to bare, I can provide you my shipping address.  Aged and restricted as they may be, its a must have lmce device for me - just like my webDT. :)
I made a wiki!  Click here to check out my system.

The 7970 LMCE skin could be back ported by hand in principle... but it would be a complicated process requiring HA designer skills etc. We have no plans to support the Orbiter on the 79XX series phones. The phones themselves will work as 'phones' fine however.

hi Andrew,
Could you add the firmware download improve to the c7970 template on Dianemo?

LMCE beta 1204 Update 27392

pluto-boot-scripts (234) - Add option 150 to dhcp server template for cisco firmware tftp
lmce-asterisk - Change db_phone_config.sh to call configure scripts for sccp phones again
pluto-dhcpd-plugin (302) - Modified 7970 configuration script to include firmware to download if in device's devicedata

Thanks in advance,
Hernan
