MCE 1004
been messing with wine firefox and silverlight got netflix-desktop working on the kde desktop but not sure how to get it into mce as a button
anyone have any ideas?
crosses fingers hopes someone didn't get this far already and find isn't Possible to get it inside mce and only runs on the desktop.
edit: if Possible under under media under the main scenario but computing will do

I spent some time looking at the NetFlix desktop app. It is very ill equipped to be controlled as a media player in LinuxMCE.
At the very least, an application needs to have some form of sending definite actions to the screen in response to actions performed by the user to an Orbiter, or that the system does automatically in response to things happening.
The NetFlix desktop app is nothing more than the NetFlix web page, with a working Silverlight ActiveX plugin running in a full screened Firefox, and as such does not have any semblence of even keyboard shortcuts, that can be done in predictable contexts that say, "move the cursor left, move the cursor right, move the cursor up, move down, select, back"
If you send anything resembling cursor controls to the netflix app, since it is a web browser, it simply moves the window around. This is useless.
Contrast this to NetFlix running as an embedded app on a TV, or running inside a Roku box, or on a PS3 (all of which LinuxMCE actively supports), then you have a control interface that maps well to Orbiter.

ok i see well that scratches that till they come up with a native netflix application for linux ill have to go with the ps3 ir for now only downside is needs a roku or something for each room
thanks for the help keeps fingers crossed for a native application

You can either do a native device, for each room, OR, you can use a hdmi to component adaptor, and run the result into a Hauppauge HD-PVR tuner, and that could be bounced around the house.

Netflix working via Linux is news to me. Using the computing menu to use it is fine. We do that already for many sites. I will have to try this

all there is atm is firefox.exe and silverlight.exe running threw wine |

Cause I have been told so before... Doesn't make it correct, that is why I said think. Wine can be very hungry... seems like a terrible idea... but I am not the arbiter of what is and isn't acceptable lol.

It is worth noting that we control Roku streaming player boxes, just fine. I just added one to my living room setup.
