Howdy.

I bought a remote from maplin the other day and wasn't watching too closely. So I ended up with a maplin branded 'Vista MCE Remote' that is actually an Ortek VRC-1100 in drag.
Rather than return it, I thought I'd try to get the thing working with LMCE.

Following instructions found here --> http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=HOW-TO:Configure_VRC-1100_remote_for_Ubuntu
I've got commands coming through in irw from the remote nicely, although the update was a little invasive (adding udev rules, installing inputlirc)

However, actually getting the wee beastie to control the orbiter on the core is another matter.  I've tried various things, but nothing seems to have any particular effect, so I'm at a loss where to properly start..

Also, a 'USB Game Pad Remote' is being continually installed. and re-installed with a few minutes if I remove it, anything to do with this?

David, can't help with the remote, I'm afraid but came across your post while looking for a LIRC Rosetta Stone....

regarding the USB Gamepad remote--- is your MD a laptop with an accelerometer inside to protect the HDD? If so, that gets setup as a GamePAD remote. In the far distant future I still aim to fix this but other LMCE issues have risen to the fore so I do have a hack available to prevent it if you're experiencing that problem.

I expect it is the same thing as listed here.

I created a template for this which works in my world. Template #2214. All you should have to do is upgrade, ideally, if that template does not exist on your install. I am quite sure they are the same device. If they identify differently, should be easy peasy to add support to the template for yours.

*Looks like they identify the same. If you have the template, should auto-install and "just work" for the most part.

Some things mis-identify as usb-gamepad. Can be disabled following this: http://forum.linuxmce.org/index.php/topic,12297.msg88169.html#msg88169
They are unrelated.
