[Dianemo S]USB-UIRT not pnp? If so, how to install
« on: March 21, 2012, 12:14:11 pm »
Hi,
My USB-UIRT on the core / nerve centre is not being recognized. I know pnp is large turned off on Dianemo, so I added a USB-UIRT manually. Apparently I did that not the right way, it does not emit any codes. So, does any one know how to get these things hooked up?
More generally, I think it would be good to know how to add devices that are PNP in LMCE but not in Dianemo S. If a Dianemo user figured something out or just "knows", please share with the other users!

Hi Mark,

I had a USB-UIRT attached to my core which stopped working a couple of months ago so I swapped it out for a mce usb thinking mine had broken. I ordered a new one and had the same issue so i believe that Dianemo S has a broken USB-UIRT package. I will prove it hopefully this weekend when i have my new development 10.04 LMCE system up.

Hm, that would be disappointing.
Andrew, can you confirm that USB UIRT works in Dianemo S systems? The offline pnp generates a lot of questions from me - sorry. However, since most people work with vanilla LMCE, not much about manual installs and config can be found on the wiki / web...

I now have my test 10.04 LMCE system up, but I am unable to test the USB-UIRT as it wont let me save it on the orbiters page when I select it.

I am re-building my Dianemo system as the upgrade from 10.10 to 11.10 failed so will test it on that when its up.

Hi Mark,

I have re-installed Dianemo 11.10 after an upgrade failed and now get the following when inserting the USB-UIRT into the system
Quote

unable to enumerate USB device on port 10

definitely not working on Dianemo S11.10 , still need to test on LMCE 10.04.

I find the disabled pnp, together with the lack of documentation on how to do this manually, a disadvantage of dianemo compared with lmce. There are also big advantages, but since I have trouble with phones, nas and usb uirt, I might actually go back to lmce for  a while...
Thanks for confirming it does not work for you, either!

Yes the USB-UIRT is 100% working - I have just tested it to be doubly sure here on a test system. I have also added a Wiki entry to the Dianemo S Wiki page to make it clear what should be done - its a 60 second procedure;

All the best

Hmm... are you using a USB Hub or are you directly plugging your USB-UIRT into your NC or MM? If your using a Hub please plug it directly into your NC or MM.

USB-UIRT's are working, as are NAS's and we will be updating the wiki later with a section on configuring trunks & phones.

Excellent. So, I should be able to unplug the usb-uirt, remove my manually added device, and plug it in again? Should the DCERouter log report what is going on?

Well if you followed the wiki... why delete the USB-UIRT. It should work as is.

The problem may be that my USB UIRT is attached to the core. If I understood the wiki correctly, I should create a child device of the CORE but a device #1783 is not allowed. The device that I use as a parent is called a "generic PC as Core". (I tried, for kicks and fun, on another MM, and it worked). So a 1-on-1 walk-through using the wiki was not working.

If adding your USB-UIRT to your NC then create it as a child device of the 'Core/Hybrid' and not the 'Core' itself.
