Good evening, Is it possible to use VDR/HVR 1600 and script like this to control my H24 satellite box:

http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Controlling_DirecTV_Set_Top_Box_%28STB%29_via_USB_or_Serial#External_Links.

Even though I am in the US, i would much rather use VDR given that I will be using svideo because the integration seems more seemless?

Describing the integration of VDR into LinuxMCE as more seamless is interesting. There are WAY more integration hooks of MythTV into LinuxMCE than for VDR, and this comes from a user who IS using VDR with LinuxMCE. At the moment there is nothing in LinuxMCE that supports analog in with VDR, however, feel free to experiment with it. http://www.vdr-wiki.de/ is a great start - a good search term is pvrinput.

Good luck.
