In the web admin, under software modules, there is an entry with the description "AirPlay Audio Player is a iOS audio stream server. You can play sound to your MD with any devices having iOS >= 4.3" If this is functional, any information should be add to the wiki page as I can't find anything in the forum or wiki. I'll be happy to write the article once I get it working, but I can't figure our how to activate it. Anyone have any suggestions?

Hi !
I was the Author of that part of LinuxMCE. I did not yet have time to write a wiki page, it's on the ToDo List.
Basically, you enable it for the MD's you want to appear as AirPlay target's. Once you have enabled it for at least one Media Director, you should have an AirPlay Plugin device on your Core, and an AirPlay Player device on the MD. Don't forget to quick reload.
Once you did that the MD should show up as AirPlay target on your iOS device, but attention: At the moment it's only for Music Playback and not yet for video or image playback ...

I've added it, and I didn't see any errors produced on any of the orbiters. It's still not showing up with my other devices on my iDevices. Is there anything that you would recommend to troubleshoot?
I have reloaded the router and restarted the core. It should be noted that I have had Airplay running on my system, though not integrated into LinuxMCE.

Works for me intermittently (i'm running 10.04). I get an error on my MD occasionally saying "Cannot play this media, perhaps there is no device associated with this media type". I then have to reboot the MD to get it to work again. Can't find anything suspicious-looking in the log.

Can you confirm you have the Plugin device under Core and the Player device under your MD in lmce webadmin device tree ?

Actually, no and no. I installed it on a core and an MD. On the core, there is only one device called AirPlay and it is located in the same room as the MD. On the MD there is no Airplay device.
This is interesting because I installed Hulu at the same time and it was successful.

Sure enough, I got an error. I don't recognize the package radvd, though. After this operation, 0B of additional disk space will be used.

Sorry for late reply. radvd package had an error that has been fixed meanwhile. If you ever have that error again simply delete radvd.conf file in /etc.
But anyway i guess you have your setup working meanwhile ?

I don't actually. I did some research and as I understand it airplay uses ipv6. I deleted the config file and now radvd is running but I don't think it's actually assigning addresses. In web admin it's asking me to put in a public prefix; however, I can only populate each blank with three digits and not four. Is this normal? Am I missing anything?

Is there any way to change the way it displays on the phone. When I select it from my phone all it shows is Generic PC as MD. Which is great it works well but I've got three MDs and they all show the same thing. I play guess the MD until I get the right one, but I will never be able to use it after like 8 o'clock when my kids go to bed. Don't want them to fly awake to the sound of Cold Play @ midnight.  |
