Acer Aspire X1200
« on: September 24, 2011, 03:02:04 am »
I got one of these from a friend and want to turn it into a hybrid running linuxmce.  I downloaded 8.10 final and installed it.  No problems.  I can get hdmi video, but no sound.  "aplay -l" indicates no soundcards found.  The wiki here has info on an X1200 setup (heinola?) but no indication of any sound issues.  Can anyone provide assistance?

Thanks for the reply.

I ended up getting an Asus Xonar DX card which has an SPDIF output (my X1200 didn't).

One thing I found was that after I built the latest alsa drivers and installed the card, I needed to add my account to the 'audio' group in /etc/group in order for 'aplay -l' to indicate that there were any soundcards.
