New Home Automation groups
« on: August 26, 2011, 12:13:27 pm »
Hey,

Today, almost all outputs relays (lights, power sockets...) must be in 'lights'.
Not so very clear if you're really interested in the home automation part.   ???
Posde suggested me to do some suggestion (topic power outlet) about possible groups. So with this topic, i want to start the subject if more groups are needed, and what the best groups would be.

These are different blocks I’m thinking about. These are in my eyes different things to make your home intelligent. Most are of course just in/output relays. But I personally think it would be clearer for everyone that you can arrange your devices (relays) in these groups.

Of course, I’ll be missing some things. So feel free to add/regroup/rename/… some of them.
Once the groups are defined, I’ll see if I can put some icons behind it.

  • Inputs
Push button, on/off switch, sensor static (shock, motion, water, fire…), sensor dynamic (light, waterlevel, temperature…)

  • HVAC
    Heating, ventilation, air conditioning

  • Power outlet
    Stand-alone, groups

  • Entry points
    Door, window, gate, garage door

  • Window covering
    Blind, solar shades, drapery
