Hi guys

I have bought a Zotac Zbox I think its the HD-ID11
I choose it because it was ION based and had a half decent ATOM processor in it.

I have plugged it into my network and it picks up the network boot.

Gets about 30 secs in and hangs with a Kernel Panic regarding eth0.

I have looked around the forums and found some info on unrecognised nics but none of the instructions seem to work with the current version I am running. Which is one of the most recent working Snapshots.

Any ideas where to go from here guys?

Regards

This is most likely because your network card has no module loaded on the core. You will need to follow some steps to make this work.
Here is one wiki entry that I have added to, but will also get you on the right track.

http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Realtek_8168

also good info here, but lengthy:

http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Unrecognized_NIC

It will give you the info to have the module added to the running kernel on both the Core, and the new MD image.

Best Regards,

Seth

Hi Guys

I have seen both those pages and tried to follow the procedure to compile the R8168 module.

However for some reason when I try and run make command to compile the module it fails.

Not sure if I am missing some prequisites.

Any ideas?

Ok. Thats weird.

Tried it again tonight and worked.

The only difference is I did a sudo -s before running commands instead of running them all with sudo at beginning.

Booting now.

Thanks Guys
