after I reinstalled a while back I noticed my media buttons on the keyboard don't work.  Is that still an issue?

The media buttons will not work, unless there is a device template that maps those buttons to something useful. Perhaps one of the other devices in the tree was doing this (The Gyration template for example up until recently was using standard media key mappings, this was changed to fix a few issues).

To my knowledge, there is no media keyboard template, so you would need to make one.
