Global Cache devices in Europe?
« on: March 15, 2011, 09:31:47 pm »
Hi,
I'm looking where to buy Global Cache devices in Europe. I checked their official distributor list:
http://www.globalcache.com/partners/distributors/international/

But these lists are often out of date and most "distributors" have stopped selling their products and don't list them anywhere on their page :(

If you have bought Global Cache devices please say where from did you order them. I would prefer EU located show because of customs.

I'm looking to buy Global Cache iTach IP2IR device which is better that GC-100 device that is usually suggested.

Thank you,
Valent.

I haven't bought one myself yet, but I looked up local retailers in Sweden some weeks ago and found these:

http://www.dustinhome.se/pd_5010552945.aspx

Both are serious resellers.

I bought my GC-100-6 from Smarthome.com in the US. Saved 50% on the price the French reseller quoted. The saving does include shipping and import duties.

The iTach IR2IR's are nice units and are to be recommended for sure. However you might also want to consider the Keane IR-Anywhere modules to as they offer many of the same capabilities for about £50 UKP (Inc VAT);

totallymaxed,

interesting looking device.

Is there a device driver for it available in LinuxMCE?

Not that I know of. The IR-anywhere units have an onboard http interface for config etc so they could be PnP pretty easily though. Our preference would be to detect them automatically and have them listed for config/room/device allocation etc in Web Admin.

All the best
