Hi Everyone, I just got my z-wave lights all configured into my system and I finally have the USB-UIRT and the GYR3101 on the way (should be here in a week).
I am in the process of making it easier to turn on the lights without going through either my main android touch orbiter or through the interface in the living room.
Has anyone used one of the z-wave light controls parallel with our orbiters? I was thinking of using the ACT ZTH100 and just sticking it by the front door to make it easy to turn on all of the lights without having to wire anything to it.
The main problem is that I still rent, and I am not ripping holes in the walls that aren't already existing...
Any other ideas? I really wanted to put in a touch screen control, but haven't found any good way to do that yet...

I am currently building a couple of wall-mounted orbiters using the Nokia N800 (one for hallway, one for kitchen), might be worth considering.

Why not just use a ZWave wireless light switch... Andrew |

That would also be mine first suggestion. Orbiter is an overkill for such simple task. |

Wow, that sounds like you don't have another option than an Orbiter to turn on the light?
That was the first point i thought about when i implemented my home automation...
Think about you have an emergency and the medic is not able to help because you first have to reboot your core?!
I have a 4-Channel Enocean-Switch in every room. They are directly programmed to the main light and the blinds but also into my home automation.
This way i can make sure that the light goes on when i press the button. Even if my server is down.

What kind of zwave devices are you guys using? Why can't you just walk over to the zwave wall switch and turn the lights on? My switches look just like regular switches... well decorative regular switched. I can turn the lights on and off via LMCE or the old fashion way.
If I'm mistaken and you're looking to turn on all lights in the house, or the bedroom light from the kitchen by pushing one button mounted on the wall. You can find those on ebay all day everyday. Just search for zwave switches. It'll be some where in the results, I see them all the time.

Those are the ones I've seen around the web. I'm holding out for something like this. We have a few dozen of these all throughout the new building where I work. I didn't have a remote to start, because what I was doing was originally just proof of concept work. Now, I'm almost finished moving into my new pad, and now I will be going all out. Lights, blinds, etc.
