At grey screen when loading MCE
« on: December 17, 2010, 06:37:58 pm »
I had finished setting up everything on my core running 810 and then I rebooted it. It comes up to the point where it says loading core services then the letters go away and I'm left with a grey screen and nothing ever happens.

What can I do to see why it is stuck there and fix the problem or in the worst case is there any way I can backup all my settings so I can do a clean install and restore most of my settings?

I can do a Ctrl+f1 and get to the console.

You may have run into this issue if you are using DVI or HDMI to connect to your TV:

I keep a VGA cable on hand for the first boot, or any other time I run the A/V wizard.

I'm familiar with that issue but Im not having an issue with the video display. It attempts to load the core services (grey background with white text) then the text goes away and nothing happens from there.

Normally it would say core services then would load the media director stuff and be ready to use.

Give it a little bit more time. Leave the core alone for about an hour and see what happens.
