I'm working on building a new core and my goals are:
1) At least 4 PCI slots (5-6 if possible)
2) SATA Drives
3) RAID 5 (Hardware preferred, but if software would work ok thats fine)
4) Onboard Dual Gigabit lans

so far, i've found: MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum motherboard - its seems ok so far

However, there is no hardware raid support, and no built in software raid support outside of windows from what I read..

So, my question is - could I use this board reliably as a core running softare RAID on 4 SATA drives?

4 streams at a time would be that max the system would see at my home, with it being probably more in the neighborhood of 2 streams at a time most of the time.

Also, if software RAID would not be acceptable, is there a good linux compatible harware SATA raid card that anyone could recommend?

thanks,
Jon
