hmm, guys, seriously, you shouldn't have to do any of this. Our installer goes out of its way to set up the drivers correctly.

Thom, please suggest a course of action, whatever I try I end up at the blue screen with the AVwizard faied to set up X.
Also lately my screen then starts getting overwritten with with lines of text a la "The Matrix", just slower scroll. Is this what is known as a kernel panic?

can you try a different graphics card please? We've heard of people having bizarre issues with the 8300/8400. I am using:

OpenGL renderer string: GeForce 9600 GT/PCI/SSE2

For your own edification, I don't have an MD atm so I cannot confirm this, but what I remember from diddling around a long time ago with the moon units, was that I was never in the directory I thought I was in, or where things should go. I often was executing things on the server instead of the MD as well.

Code:
find / -name 'NVIDIA*.run'

You can see if it is lurking somewhere. As memory serves, and I drink a lot, wget was not dropping to the moon dir structure.

What I ended up doing, as memory serves, was DL the file to a thumb drive, open KDE on the MD and dragged it to the desktop, drop to a shell, kill x, and sh from there... I was new to linux, and could not mount anything vista formatted so I fell back on dummy tools to partition in linux.

Just found a PCIe x1 ION card for 60 bucks I plan on playing with once we are eating regular again.

Thom

Are you using your card on a 810 installation?

Core or MD?

I'm battling to source a 9600 card. Any of the nvidia 240/260/280 etc. known to work well with 810?

Back to googling the Wiki & the forum & came across hitting shift after the descending beeps.
Booted up again hit shift after the descending beeps and LOL , the penguin pops up, did the settings, & it started installing stuff, firefox, etc.
Still waiting for it to finish - last bit I saw was something about the Orbiter, ah Sarah has just popped up
