Apad orbiter?
« on: September 21, 2010, 05:45:57 pm »
Found this video of Apad (android?) being used as an orbiter for LinuxMCE...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eA0SaYYQb7E

does anyone have any additional info on these?  Are they running as a full orbiter, Touch Orbiter or just a web orbiter?

As it has the flying penguin as an activity indicator it is most probably the web orbiter.

video comes out from here -> http://forum.linuxmce.org/index.php?topic=10500.msg72714#msg72714

It is running weborbiter, but I know that darrenmason is working on an Android porting of the touch orbiter ->http://forum.linuxmce.org/index.php?action=profile;u=38784

I know also that someone tried to configure it as a sip phone (sipdroid), but no idea about the result.

All in all, it looks like a very nice toy. I also ordered one, but it is sadly awaiting for customs clearance since a couple of weeks ...

Regards
Marco

Hi, u'r seeing my livingroom in the video ;-). It is indeed the weborbiter on an Eken M002. I have put wince on there as well with a selfbuild TOuchorbiter. That worked fine as well, but wince is not near as userfriendly as android. Although TouchOrbiter is more snappy I am back at WebOrbiter.

The Android touch orbiter is all but done - unfortunately when I fixed some of the threading stuff and added the ability to scroll around the picture I broke the bit that works out the touch co-ordinates. As soon as I get another couple of hours at home it should be ready for testing. (Possibly tomorrow night - dependant upon 2 yr old and 6 week old boys)

It would be good to have it tested on these devices as they are the main targets really....

Darrenmason, check in the code you already have, so some of us can have a crack at fixing this stuff.

Particularly, because I know you haven't, and don't know how, or probably even want to implement new orbiter creation, or the UI work needed to fully implement a working solution. I can do that.
