07/26 snapshot(fixed) - -No MD nas Media playback within LinuxMCE UI

 Hi Everyone,

 Things have progressed much, hats off to the devs, I have been fiddling with 8.10 for a week or so in my spare time and today I setup a core in lieu of mythmaster backend with 4 TV cards one being an OTA for HD locally. I will get with that later.
 everything is up and running with the network and devices have been found. I have couple things I was wondering I am relearning as I go.

 1. How long is it gonna take to sync 13 2.0TB public windows-shares? This is working fine
 2. Does anybody have a copy of the media tagging video Thom made. Still Looking for this file.
 3. Could someone refresh my memory on the location needed for the channel changing script? Is this still /usr/bin/local or /usr/local/bin/ I have it back up somewhere
 4. I am setting up a new sharp Aquos 820 this time around. Should I mkae a new template for it or modify an old one. RS232 will be controlling it. Any Feedback on this Anybody.
 5. Finally any tips or links on setting up a ION330 as an MD. I did read a little but not too deep as I was heavily into the core. Seems to work just fine out of the box on the latest Snapshot as an MD

 I was reading somewhere on the forum, someone had mentioned a .id3 sharing site. has anything been done with that idea. I think it would be awesome and I may be way off but I am thinking that would be like tvdb or the mymovies upload method for movie info. I.E. I have all the Die hard movies id'd and someone needs them can they use my id file or would you still need to tag the files individually. I am not certain and I am wondering if this would be of any benefit. I am not looking forward to tagging my 2000 movies plus TV, HD and Music. LOL. No response to this idea - would it not be a useful tool for the masses.

It's getting there on the sync. Since last nights post it had done most of the drives except two. Now granted. I had some go script files left in my unraid startup script and had to hard shutdown server and now it is doing a parity check (24-48 hrs) as well so that could have some relation.

Hey All,

 So I have trying to get a MD up and running all day. although I have setup an MD on two different machines both are producing the same results. I have no playback from any media files stored on my nas. Flickr is not working on either MD and sara is no where to be found during the av wizard setup.

 with the media playback my results are anything that is HD be it .ts, .mkv, .m2ts the system says it cannot find the file and that is the same with any of the audio files which are all flac. As for DVD's the error message is cannot read dvd or libdvdcss is not installed, libdvdcss is installed and the latest version. DVD's play fine from the disc drive just not from the lan. I read some notes on the forum regarding the smb.conf file and I checked that both on the core and the md's and those files are both correct.

 All files play just fine on the core.

 I reran createTBZ on the core in case and I also have deleted and rebuild the md's image. although I am not certain if that is even req'd any longer in 8.10. I cannot really locate any Md Setup info as per 8.10.

 if anyone can shed some light that would be awesome.

the media directors should be mounting /home, and devices in /mnt/device. Look in /home/public/data/videos
can you traverse the symlinked disks?

Hey Thom,

 Thanks for the reply, Well I assume you a referring to the mounts on the MD. So if I open up /mnt/device with dolphin all the drives are there as device number 1-13 (50-62) not sure if this is a dolphin related issue but if I open the folder and watch; the drives are all there then they start to get removed one by one until they are all gone then it will refresh and put them all back again.

 There is nothing in home/public/data/videos, I did not use LinuxMCE directory structure when I setup the server on the core. The drives are all in the /home/public/data/other/ windows-share disk 1-13 device 50-62 on the core.

 I can also open zine from kde and browse to the /mnt/device/ directory and start a movie from there and it will play from the desktop, I can also open a file in mplayer of any extension and it will play but again about every third time I open the dialog box to pull up a movie file the /mnt/device drives are missing and will repopulate on there own.

The behaviour you are experiencing is normal, and is caused by the interaction of autofs and a complex automounter control script (/etc/auto.PlutoStorageDevices). The devices come on and off as needed, and you'll see the interaction of these as UpdateMedia crawls the individual devices attached to the Pluto system.

If the disks are there, and the paths match up (look at the details page, at the path), then there is no reason for the behaviour you are experiencing at all.

 Right, so if from the orbiter on the MD I choose video and select the movie "A Night at the Museum" and look at the path it is

 File Public:other/Windows share-disk8[57] Movies8/A Night at the Museum. and if I compare that with

 /mnt/device the path is

 /mnt/device/57/Movies8/A Night at the Museum.

 My movie structure is all /Movie_Name/Video_TS/VOB1,2,3 etc...

 I got the latest snapshot and rebuilt the core and reset up the ion as an MD and I have a photo screensaver and network media is playing back for the most part all my audio files play fine as well as DVD's. Bd and hd-dvd 1080P ripped as .mkv or .ts files are not doing so well out of 100 movies about 3 seem to playback most are audio with no video or completely scrambled video and no audio.
