hi Andrew,

been using your weborbiter with great pleasure on my iphone 3GS,
the thing i noticed is that the images get blurry,
for instance the green area around a trackname gets 'artifacts' and the text isn't always readable,
i did set the standard iphone resolution,

is there anyway to get this better?

What resolution are you configuring your Web Orbiter for?

I Suspect you are just seeing artifacts that are created in the rescaling process the bitmaps go through when regenned at smaller resolutions. There is a marked difference in the quality of the Orbiter screens between the iPod Touch/iPhone3g/iPhone3GS which ahre the same resolution screens and say the iPhone4 which has a much higher resolutions screen.

No if you are using 480x320 then that is the correct resolution - can you confirm that you have selected that resolution in Web Admin?

yes i am using 480x320 and i selected the 'basic' skin,
is there any way to get the orbiter screen-images sharper?
the iphone can produce very sharp pictures.
or is the regenning to smaller resolutions process causing this image-quality?

to make things clear, i do not want to step on anybody's toes, just want to give feedback to make things better.

No i didn't have the time,
does this skin have a lower resolution to begin with, so it doesn't need to be much compressed?
will this improve image quality?

Don't quote me, but I think it uses less colours and simpler buttons, I don't believe the resolution is changed.

With the touch orbiter you can change the 'Image Quality' from the default of 70 to 100 in the advanced settings for the orbiter.  Doing this sends the full PNG image and eliminates the compression artifacts that are visible with the default of 70.  I'm not certain if this applies to the weborbiter as well as the touch orbiter (not at home to check right now) but I receive pristine images without compression artifacts by changing this setting.

Yes that setting does apply to Web Orbiter 2.0 so it may make a difference.

Increasing the image quality does increase the amount of data that is transferred to the web/touch orbiter and responsiveness can be affected.  The touch orbiter responds as quickly as the real orbiter on my webdt (800x600) at Image Quality of 70 and is just a little slower on screen redraws at quality 100.  I imagine that weborbiter will see similar changes in responsiveness.

Yes that sounds about right from our experience on various devices - there will be a slight hit in performance as you crank up the image quality.
