Hi All,
As this is my first post I'd like to thank everyone involved with developing Linuxmce. It's been great fun to play with!
I am trying to make use of Thom's excellent work on PadOrbiter, but I can't seem to find the image file anywhere. Does anyone have a copy or know where it is lurking somewhere?
Thanks,
Ed

Hi Tim,
I believe in supporting good work so I paid for the download. However, now I've paid how do I actually download the file? The site mentioned a 2 MB chunk - I couldn't seem to get to that.

I strongly object to this kind of practice. What's next? Paying 50 bucks for the privilege of downloading the LMCE installation ISO?!? Come to think of it, that's not such a bad idea afterall. Glad I haven't shared that (almost complete) patch I made to build lmce-0810 on Lucid yet, it's probably going to be worth a lot of money soon...

Zaerc,
The code is available, so anyone can build it. This is for a preconfigured version for a specific web pad.

I don't want to exploit you or any part of LinuxMCE I am trying to add value and to simply defer some costs for those who are contributing to LinuxMCE Zarec, you have been instrumental in LinuxMCE's progress I and many others greatly appreciate your efforts, how can I help you. Looks like the beta is there . If someone would like to update it with the gamma let me know. Tim

I too felt uneasy about paying for this. What license agreement am I paying for? What support do I get in return? Does the money really go to the people who have worked the most on linuxmce? Are they really entitled to sell it? However, on balance I decided that as this was a specific build to save me time (I know I could build it myself), so I decided to pay for it.
I would prefer to call it a donation.

What you buy is that somebody pre-compiles it for you, so you are not buying the code or a license. Tkmedia shares his profit to the team. Maybe Tkmedia can clarify it some more.

Guys look.... If you prefer I take the item off my website and return the 1 persons money that has downloaded it, I would be happy to.
Its very simple Thom made an Image for the web dt 366. Tim with Thom's and pluto's permission offers a preconfigured ready to go Web Pad Orbiter. Tim gives Thom a portion of the web pad proceeds to help him defer his costs of development. Thom's server dies and its no longer available for people to download. Tim offers to host the easy installer image as a service, and give %50 of the proceeds directly to Thom.
Tim gets bad feelings from an individual and immediately post link to free version.
as a far as profit.
maybe someday..... I think most people use it for ideas and buy elsewhere, and what little money does come in really doesn't cover cost of buying/testing every lmce specific item that is featured on the website.
as far as support Thom and I are in #linuxmce for countless hours each week helping anyone with just about anything.
Tim

Sometimes people just do not know what true captalism is. It is not "stealing" money, but it is giving money to products that deserve it. That is why I never by apple, too healthy. -=Thinks he shouldn't post when he had some wine=-
