I downloaded the LinuxMCE-8.10-beta2 torrent found at this page: http://www.linuxmce.org/index.php/download

I then burned it to a DVD, and now it won't boot from the disc.

I'm not really sure what to do. I've never had a problem installing a linux distro before...

Try downloading and burning the latest snapshot, see if that makes any difference http://linuxmce.iptp.org/snapshots/

Also, make sure you follow the installation instructions carefully http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Installing_0810

You may also try burning at a slower speed.  I had the same problem, burn reported fine, but wouldn't boot.  After burning the same image at a slower speed it worked fine.

You may try installation using scripts. IMHO it's the best way to install LinuxMCE. I tried DVD installation of 0810 only once and it wasn't success.

We should have a sticky thread for burning the latest snapshot.

Note, its always best to use re-writeable media unless you need more coasters.

If a DVD or CD doesn't boot after burning, then there is most likely a problem with the media or hardware.

Also check the BIOS settings to make sure that you have booting from cdrom enabled and check the boot order.

I concur. I remember once changing CD/DVD drive for it to work.
