Giving LinuxMCE at try
« on: May 26, 2008, 08:03:12 pm »
I have a media center (Vista) running with my TV at the moment and I want to give LinuxMCE a try. I've using Linux since 2003 starting with RH9 then Fedora then Ubuntu and so on. So I know my way Linux a bit. But I have few questions regarding LinuxMCE capabilities. So here goes...

1. LinuxMCE 0710 can read mkv (Matroska) files from what I've read, but does it allow changing of subtitles and audio during playback?

2. This is more of a Mythtv question actually... I have a Hauppauge HVR-1300 DVB-T card in my media center and I want to know if mythtv supports dvb-t subtitles (switching them on and off) and teletext? So this question probably is more for the european users.

3. In my network I have a 1 TB Network starage drive with all my media on (ntfs formatted). Will LinuxMCE be albe to see that drive via Samba and is playback directly from the drive possible?

Many thanks in advance

André

hi there!
never used subtitles so Iii can't help there!
but I can tell you your 1TB storage drive should work just fine :)
do however read learn and understand the implications of how Sarah likes her networking :)
she is quite fickle and gets somewhat p"*sed of if you don't do it her way!
(it's one of those things you must look into before you commit!
