Dianemo and ASUS EB1501 power control

Hi Andrew,

Last weekend I installed two different ASUS eee box EB1501(U/P) as MM. However,  the power on/off commands aren't working neither from an orbiter nor from the admin-page. Other MM (Acer Revo, Shuttle XS35) are controllable this ways.

Do you have same issues recently from other installations.

Hmm... I'm not aware of any other reports of that issue. I'll ask my colleagues here if they have heard of or seen that issue recently.

Thanks for your feedback.

I thought, this issue might be related to specific BIOS settings of EeeBox itself. Therefore if have switched through all options of the Suspend mode but without success.

Well we still have no reports on this other than yours. So my feeling is that this issue is more to do with your hardware and the 12.04 Kernel etc.

I can also confirm issues with two Asus EB1501. Neither can be controlled from orbiter. In particular I am also having strange shutdown issues, ie. on screen orbitor will state powering down, then cycle back to confirm shutdown.

Have checked and rechecked WoL etc settings are all enabled. Running 12.04lts with latest updates. Openelec installed on Hdd of both.

We've had no other reports of this so I cant advise on how to resolve the power issues. What are you using Openelec for?

Hi Andrew,
Only that I had these machines as xbmc appliances over wifi prior to new LAN cabling being installed and redeployed integrated with dianemo system. I simply added this reference for completeness. I understand u have no other references to this issue, but I might add that here is a least one other user experiencing exactly the same issue wit the same device and that this device is listed as a working device with dianemo.

I must admit to finding the bios difficult. Can you shed any light on what settings have been used in your installs to compare to?

Hmm... so you are PXE booted as an MM but you are launching Openelec from the internal hard drive too? Have i understood you right? If that's the case then it may be that the powering down process is getting hung because of the locally launched software.

Hi Andrew,
Ideally yes I wish to pxe boot both devices as MM and have the option to reboot these devices from internal Hdd to run openelec. This is due to the way dianemo handles (ripped) tvshows presently (refer to other post).

Whilst PXE boot was initiated successfully, I have been unable to control the power state of these devices (either boot or shutdown) from orbiter (any orbiter; including the onscreen of the device). The system shows the power state as "off" on floor plan but it cycle through shutdown confirmation.

Power on commands are also not working despite WoL settings being on in bios. 

Separate to this is, that unlike a previous MM I do not have an option to restart MM from internal HDD on orbiter. So rebooting openelec from HDD isn't an option.
